Intentional Living, Beautiful Moments, & The Art of Being Present

Wisdom of Mothers

by Terrica Joy in Reflections

"...take it one feeding at a time. The rest doesn't matter.  Just love her through all that bonding & time. Showering is overrated, hence laundry becomes overrated. Order takeout, choose not to feel guilty but to know you've just invested your entire self into the creation of a new life--no wonder you are exhausted.  Smell her head, whisper your thanks to God for her entrance into your home, and just breathe deeply knowing FULL well, and I promise you, you will feel like yourself again very soon..."

A sweet friend shared these words with me recently, in a moment I really needed to hear them.  Mother of two with a third on the way, I trusted her wisdom implicitly. Each sentence seemed to add another layer of peace to my soul.  I have very quickly realized just how desperately new moms, especially, need other moms for encouragement and support.  It makes all the difference in the world.

I read her words over, and over, and over again.  I never want to forget them.
